    Re: No Bark Collar

I noticed the "no bark collar" when I ordered my tag the other day. I don't have much problem with Misty barking, but am wondering how does it work.... as in the mechanics?  Is it like a shock collar and you push a button to activate it, or does it just sense the bark, and beep to correct it or what?  I'd like to know so I could recommend it to friends who may need a product like this.

Some are electic stimulus devices and others release an odor (camphor, I think) to discourage barking.  The one we bought uses a slight electric stimulus and works well.  His only real barking was at the mailman and meter readers.  We put it on for a couple of days and then never used it again for about 6-8 weeks.  Then put it on for another day to remind him he wasn't supposed to bark at the mail man.  It never stopped him from barking altogether, but did stop the rabid barking at the mailman.

The no bark collar from www.pettags.com is the best one and best priced.  It has 2 modes,  sound and vibration with 3 levels of correction and does not shock or harm the pet like the shock ones.  It really works in under a month and if you have a pet and don't want to pay a lot then this is the one you want.

     Just thought you should know.

Thanks for the info. I have a 6 month old Maltese that thinks it has to bark at the ice falling in the ice maker or any other noise. I will have to check this out.

Actually I never tried the PetTags no-bark collar, but have tried several other brands and they didn't work on our Pomarian. I didn't like the shock-type collars as I feared it hurt Hooch and it didn't stop him from barking. He now knows what "No Bark" means and sometimes we have success with that phrase. Of course, being 8.5 yrs. old, it took sometime and patience to train him. But, one thing I can say is that he's a great watch dog. He usually barks when someone he doesn't know comes into the house or drives a car on our parking lot that he hasn't seen before.

Have a personal question tho. How did you get the name 'Wolf" I used to raise Hy-bred wolves and am always looking for others who have an interest in the animal.

    Re: No Bark Collar

Does anybody know how this collar actually works ?  I have two Chihuahuas and the barking is becoming a problem.  I dread summer coming with the windows open.  I don't want to shock them or squirk something stinky into their faces.  I just want them to learn to be quiet on command. They are only 9 months and almost 1 year.  The first one wasn't a barker but the second one seems to trigger it and then they both start and get the Great Dane going.  The Great Dane will stop barking as soon as we say quiet but not the Chihuahuas.

They really work and do not shock or pain the pet.  The item may not fit your pets unless they are large Chihuahuas though as the unit is for pets 15 lbs. and larger.

    Re: No Bark Collar

Smaller brred dogs are notortious for barking. We have a Pomarian and we've spent 8 years trying to keep him from barking. He knows the simple command of "No Bark" - sometimes it actualy works. Notice the sometmes. I have tried different collars but they all gave off a shock and can be very expensive. From everything I have read the PetTags collar seem to work, at least on "normal" size dogs. I've never heard of collars working on these small breeds. But, give it a try. If anything, it may calm him down some so he won't react to noises. But, on't expect the barkiing to just stop. It's not in their nature. Good luck!
