wouldn't it be a good idea to start training my dog to fetch a "treat dispensing ball", but NOT with treats inside "first"?

...i mean actually begin throwing the ball (w/o treats) and teaching, then later, after the session, reward my dog with ONE treat in his mouth, and then put the other few little morsels INSIDE the ball for chewing and playtime later?

my purpose is to teach by association....between the ball and treat of course.

he has 4 other balls, but they are all solid. he is somtimes picky when time comes to pick and play with just one. i just thought that i can alleviate his constant (troublesome) choosing by creating an "always favorite" toy ball by associating it with the treat sticking out.
