What steps are you taking to get him to quit it , as you put it?  Is this a new behavior?  Did you adopt him or raise him from puphood. How you try and break his attention can possibly have an impact on your results.  Have you seen any Cesar Millan, the dog trainer programs?  I just got his book..."Cesars Way".  ...
